An exquisite example of Victorian Exotic style architecture, a Heritage listed building that's been in this location since 1863, according to Heritage information available. This is a very beautiful and aesthetically gorgeous building, once described as something one could see in Europe or USA for its very decorative and decadent design. I still remember this corner as being the Darrell Lea corner until it closed. Today it's occupied by Telstra. If you're really curious about this beautiful building, read up on the owner who also owns the flagship Apple store and the Louis Vuitton store diagonally opposite this building! Telstra "Discovery Store", the current tenant, makes sense occupying this corner as it's interconnected to their headquarters at 400 George Street. Oh, this building is also known as Royal Exchange Hotel and Darrell Lea Building. Beautiful piece of marvellous architecture and a fitting addition to NSW history and heritage.
