Dr Jerome A. Goldberg

Dr Goldberg operated a number of years ago (2018). He was professional, kind, quiet and unassuming, but cared so much all the same, so great with his Ortho skills. The staff were all so lovely, so helpful, so caring. He did so much more to my right shoulder that he couldn't believe he found on opening my shoulder up. Besides 3 tears, there was so many fragments of bone that had broken off my right shoulder ball. So he had a bigger job than expected, but he did everything to grab every piece of bone, smooth the ball and I have lasted until now. Thank you

Was obnoxious, rude and condescending. That was the staff. Dr Goldberg was even worse. The epitome of doctor arrogance. Do not waste you time (I was made to wait more than 2 hours after my booking)-when I asked to reschedule I was threatened that I would be charged the fee regardless. Then when I did see him, I got better service at McDonalds. In the end went to another (and respected) Ortho for my shoulder and got great service. Treat poor plebs differently (poorly) compared to his precious professional athlete clientele

Unfortunately, I am more than experienced visiting medical specialists, however February 2022 was my first visit to Dr Jerome Goldberg. My shoulder had been most unwell for over a year. Rarely have I encountered such thoroughness in examination and then a confident, firm diagnosis of the problem to which no other had been able to make. Further, Dr Goldberg gave me two pages of information about my injury and said that what he was about to explain to me was all contained in the two pages so it did not matter if I did not remember everything. For that I was most grateful. Dr Goldberg prescribed a radiological procedure which is not common and he insisted on a specific radiologist and also physiotherapist for subsequent treatment. Explaining all of the possible risks he was confident in this treatment plan. (I should note the treatment was not an injection of cortisone of which I had had several.) Within hours of the treatment (and now months) my shoulder is dramatically improved. Dr Goldberg has phoned me about half a dozen times to inquire as to how I my shoulder is. I come from a family of doctors my father was a professor of medicine and so is my brother. My mother was also a doctor. I cannot speak too highly of Dr Goldbergs professionalism, conservative approach and above all genuine concern for his patient. Too see Dr Goldberg is a privilege. Robin Gandevia, Sydney

This doctor will not accept any responsibility if his surgeries go wrong. I had a multi directional instability of the left shoulder and he performed a surgery which is insufficient for its stabilization. He did not take any pre or post op scans. Only a EMG nerve testing which was not enough to determine the extent of my injuries. Once I had undergone the surgery, his manner changed. He chastised me about consulting his own recommended physio about pain I was having, saying he was the only person I was to consult. And if I didn't trust him, then I was to blame for the resulting consequences from the surgery. He also told me to swim 800m twice a week, upon which my shoulder promptly felt worse and it was after seeing the co surgeon that I was told to discontinue the swimming. A year after surgery, I was told I had reverted to the state I was prior surgery and would need another operation. No accountability for poor post op rehab or the fact it was the wrong type of surgery done!
