The Carrier's Office is now part of the Ballarat Railway Station / Goods Shed precinct revitalisation. It looks like it might be a commercial site in the future (I have a feeling there was a craft beer maker here but covid got them). Here's to the future!

This circa 1885 red brick former freight forwarding office is on the western side of Lydiard St, adjacent to the last operational railway gates in Australia. It is the only example of this type of facility still existing in Victoria. There were several other freight offices located nearby but these were all in timber. From here busy freight operations of the yard were directed. Note the building is one storey facing Lydiard St but two stories at the rear. The building has Queen Anne architectural features, particularly the red brick walls, and the timber flying gable end decoration with finials at the apexes, which compliments the fine craftsmanship of the stuccoed bands linking the elaborate arch headed windows and doors.
