On the 10th Feb The good Dr said he would send a referral to another specialist. Over a month later and despite many phone calls still no action. Totally inefficient

Avoid visiting this rude and arrogant Specialist Doctor. I believe the GPs whoever refer patients to this impolite Specialist Doctor would lose their own credibility. Trusting GPs referral, we visited Sydney Cardiovascular Centre at Blacktown few weeks ago to see the Specialist Dr Athula Gunasekara for his expert advice on my wifes blood pressure condition. But we had a terrible experience. My wife was so depressed with his unethical behaviour, and the pain we went through due to his rude and arrogant actions is forcing me to write this review at least to alert some patients before visiting him. My wife was much worried about her blood pressure condition, as advised she explained her familys health history with lot of stress and misspelled a word stent. Immediately the Specialist Doctor laughed loudly in an insulting manner and corrected her on how to spell the word, since he knows most of the words related to his own business. He also asked us about our background to know which part of the world we come from expecting his favourite answer from us, though it is unnecessary in this scenario. Later he asked my wife to sit on the examination table, immediately he approached her and unzipped her cardigan to check the heartbeat. She was intimidated and surprised for his actions as the doctor didnt tell her what he is going to do and for not seeking her consent. It clearly indicates that the so-called specialist doesnt have common minimum values or ethics to treat a patient. I know Australia has very good principles on Code of Conducts, Morals, Values and Ethical Behaviours for every profession, but I dont know how he became a doctor crushing all these principles. First consultation charges: $450 Specialist Doctors time: 10 minutes Waiting time: 2 hours Follow up visit charges: $150 (just to learn about test reports) Specialist Doctors time: 5 minutes (Not even checked the Blood Pressure) Waiting time: 30 minutes Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring Charges: $150 (but it costs only $100 in Sydney). Other tests charged on Medicare Final observation from the Specialist Doctor Dont know the reason for High Blood pressure at this stage, need to do more tests after two months. Our experience with this Specialist Doctor - Wasting hard earned money and time, disappointment, depression, and a feeling of insulted. When we asked for the test reports, the receptionist after consulting the Specialist Doctor said those will be shared only with the GP and not with the patients. Since we paid for those tests, we requested for the results for our record. Then the Specialist Doctor realised and guided the receptionist to inform us to come next day. On the next day the reports were handed over to us reluctantly, but one of the reports has a misspelled patients name and wrong date of birth, it seems some reports were prepared in a hurry. We requested the receptionist to correct the mistakes, while she was expressing her helplessness, the Specialist Doctor rushed from his room like a wildfire, hope he must be watching on the CCTV from his room as there were no patients to see him. The Specialist Doctor was so cranky and blamed us pretending it was our mistake and pulled the reports from my hand and corrected with a pen and threw back on me. He should be called a primitive man for his behaviour instead of a Specialist Doctor. Without patients he has no business, but still he is insulting and mistreating the patients with his rude and arrogant behaviour, in other words he is insulting his own lucrative business. Instead of giving a tactical reply to my review, the Specialist Doctor should focus on giving respect to the patients and treat them politely as most of the patients need a pleasant treatment and an encouraging hope.

The good doctor has been of much help to my father. He has always taken care of him, making sure the proper treatment and mediations is being used. Again I give my thanks and ask that you continue to not only help my father but all your other patients as well.
