Friendly environment, lovely doctors and nurses. Wait times can be long but in my experience that is pretty standard across most practices.

This is a message directly to the staff at INGLEWOOD Medical Practice. Very cautious about dealing with new doctors coming from overseas. PETRA at reception and Dr Hadi Rafi...brilliant and fantastic. Coming from Melbourne and assisting me in a injury I occurred at work on the Railway, better than any Clinic and Doctor Practice in Melbourne.

This practice should not be operating. Incompetent, uncaring, definitely not trauma informed in any way and certainly not LGBTIQA+ friendly or informed. Do not attend if you are ND, they do not understand diagnostic processes, will not believe your diagnosis and do not understand application processes for NDIS. Our infant was refused pathology for a suspected UTI, NOT ONCE, but TWICE. We told them she has a rare genetic condition where UTIs do not show symptoms (the Dr who saw her at her first appointment was thoroughly uninterested in learning about her complex and rare condition). She was in pain 3 weeks before RCH ordered pathology. She had a UTI, which we knew without needing pathology results and medical staff treating her have been shocked by the refusal of care for such a simple request. We have had to advocate beyond reasonable measures for geriatric tests for our elderly mother. They are not aware of processes and requirements for MyAged care and housing referrals for the elderly. Reports and referrals are incomprehensible, with incorrect information and spelling errors. Our paperwork was rejected as the referral information was insufficient, despite us anticipating this and taking in the list of information that needed to be included. My partner was warned that her ADHD medication was addictive (incorrect if you have ADHD) and was not given the length of authority requested by the treating psychiatrist. The Dr was nervous and hesitant to prescribe the recommended medication, giving wrong information (that another appt with the psychiatrist was required - it wasnt) and being clearly judgemental about the use of this medication. The Dr inferred my partner may be addicted to this medication. I was twice given the wrong post surgical wound care by two separate Drs, enduring 4 weeks of unnecessary pain and an open wound. When I finally got to see my GYN she was aghast at the sight of my open unhealed wound and couldnt believe I had been prescribed the creams that I had been. My GYN gave me the correct information and the wound healed in 2 weeks. In seeking time off work for stress leave, my partner was asked to recall her entire history of extensive FV, told that her estranged son would be in contact soon and not to worry. The Dr told her that her stress was likely not caused by work and she was only able to give 1 weeks leave. We have since learnt this is untrue, another Dr has been able to offer 4 weeks at a time until the issue is resolved. Today I received a referral (which I wasnt seeking during the appointment) telling the referring practitioner that I was homosexual by choice, mis gendering me (despite having asked for my pronouns while writing this document), which I was shocked at but was told this was a necessary disclosure of my medical history. I have since learnt that this outing was completely unnecessary and discriminatory. I attended the clinic to discuss a recent diagnosis with the GP who I have been seeing for nearly 1 year. She flatly refused to support the diagnosis stating I needed to see a psychiatrist, not a clinical psychologist and that in her opinion I displayed no signs of the disorder. In her opinion the diagnosis was baseless and she refused to continue as my treating GP. She told me to find another GP. I wont go into how this was then handled by two further attending staff, including the practice manager, but suffice it to say, none were trauma informed and all lacked empathy or understanding of my condition. It was an uncomplicated request that was met with the most incredible amount of confusion by all staff members. This practice needs to be shut down until staff are adequately trained, from reception through to all medical and managerial staff. The way I have heard receptionists speak to other patients, as well as myself is abhorrent. Drs are ill informed of their roles, do not adhere to even the practice code of conduct, let alone basic anti discrimination laws. It goes well beyond a language barrier, which I thought was the issue in the beginning.

Very unfortunate interactions with with reception staff at clinic. Very unwelcoming and come across as rude. I came to an appointment without a mask as I forgot one, I offered to purchase one however could only pay via eftpos and they would not let me buy one and sent me outside in the cold to wait for my appointment.
