The area is great for camping opportunities Prospecting for gold is convenient & the potential for a reasonable find is achievable There are better gold fields than this one in Victoria

This is the Whipstick. It is a very interesting forest and contains all things interesting. Unique flora and fauna, archeological relics etc. It it's also large. Dog-friendliness: Very unfriendly to dogs, even in car. Due to overly diligent Rangers.

Excellent area to explore goldfield workings, there are many tracks and trails of varying degrees of hardship. Camping grounds and picnic areas are well signposted.
