We were stuck on a sand bar at the entrance of Altona boat ramp and the coast guard went by towing and boat .We asked if the could when finished grab a rope and yow us off the sand bar. There response was call 000 .I would hate to be in real trouble life and death and told call 000 .A Jet skier grabbed the rope and we were off in 30 seconds than you to the guy that owned the jet ski.The only reason we where stuck as we went and helped someone else.

Fantastic group of hard working, dedicated and professional service men and women. Great community organization operated entirely by volunteers who are passionate about marine conservation, boating and sustainable fishing.

Volunteer Coast Guard Station. On-Call 24/7. Call 000 in an emergency. Coast guard volunteer staff are Highly experience and highly trained with internationally recognised maritime qualifications. A lot of coast guard volunteers are actually full time members of other emergency services such as Ambulance and Police, and are also volunteers. Coast Guard vessels are specifically designed and built for purpose. Without the volunteer Coast guard stations around Australia's coast, and some also in the bigger inner water ways, a lot of vessels would be lost, and a lot of people with them.
