Lake Cobbler Hut is a great place to visit The Lake itself is perfect for kayaking swimming or fishing There is plenty of camping space and a good long drop style toilet There is no power or internet coverage here however but brings you back to nature and time out from busy living The hut itself is lovely to photograph also The roads in and out are mostly suitable for 4wd Campers could access with the right terrain tyres Lake Cobbler is a beautiful lake situated on the south eastern edge of the Alpine National Park. Its best reached via the King Valley on the Rose River Road and is located 50km from Whitfield. Lake Cobbler was created in the 1960s by damming a swamp area in the headwaters of the Dandongadale River. After leaving the lake, Dandongadale River plunges over a precipice, creating the longest drop waterfall in Victoria (a heady 255m). It then joins the Rose River, which flows into the Buffalo River, before settling down to a quiet life in the backwaters of Lake Buffalo.
