Great free camping site. Easily accessible in April 2023 in 2WD (however in the wet tracks would become greasy and may require 4WD as most are clay graded tracks after recent flood). Take caution during wet weather. 4-years ago this location was in terrible track condition basically requiring 4WD with big pot holes and ruts however has since been graded and somewhat maintained but is still quite rough and would be slippery in wet conditions as mentioned. Mobile Reception is low (1-2 - bars Telstra) to poor. Please note no toilets or fresh drinking water exist. Access is unsealed tracks. No rubbish bins exist. Please take rubbish with you. Some tracks have been closed on purpose by parks by means of trees and branches placed across tracks. Please obey these obstacles and take detour tracks to access camp sites. Some sand bars exist depending on specific camp site. Some sites accessible with caravans however due to some site access gradients may require off road hitches. Great success fishing with Murray cod, trout cod, silver perch, yellow belly and unfortunately carp following recent floods. Closest town is Toolamba however no grocery shop exists here unless the local pub. Closest major servicing towns are Murchison and Mooroopna and/or Shepparton. Cemetery bend state forest access is one road in and one out. Bring firewood as limited firewood exists. Cemetery Bend consists of riverside camping along various camp site locations on the Goulburn river. Various sites with varying gradients of access. Some could be wheel chair accessible however please assume none are depending on weather and site conditions. Warning: we have found many of the sites here to contain dangerous widow maker hanging branches on camping sites. Please never set up camp under unstable trees or branches which may fall. Maritz Bend camping site is part of the cemetery bend state forest and was great 15 or so years ago when maintained by prisoners however has now been left and is not the place it used to be. Camping here is still possible however can be quite boggy after rain. Please note the drop toilets that were at this site are now no longer available. Like most camp sites rubbish can be found left at camp sites unfortunately. This area can become very busy over holiday periods.

All grade 4x4, tracks in wet weather so put on your muddies. Lots of camping spaces near the river. If you open a gate, close it, you are within cattle farm areas. No restrooms and No rubbish bins so you have to take rubbish with you. Good for kids and behaved dogs.
