I first visited the town around 20 years ago. I couldn't believe how quiet it was. You can walk from one end of town to another without seeing a soul. Hard to believe for a place that once boasted a population around a 100 thousand. The town stands like a museum, a relic of the goldrush. I liked the place so much I purchased a block and regularly visit. I went there for a trip away and stayed for the ambiance.
