The food and ambience is the reason for 2 stars.
The seating would have to be the most uncomfortable I've come across in a Bistro, ordering meals and delivery thereof was haphazard.
The food was hit and miss. Big portions but pretty low on quality. The steaks were ordinary, which is a shame for a country pub. The roast of the day looked and tasted like it came directly from a dodgy nursing home, dry flavourless meat (I think it was beef?), rock hard veggies and a generic sort of gravy. It had the appearance of being microwaved. Ick!
The risotto was surprisingly good.
The deserts were a huge disappointment. Obviously bought in and not made in house.
There are many great pubs in the area, unfortunately this is not one of them.
