The Other Place @ Rutherglen

My husband and I missed the sign on the fence about (no bikes). We put a foot inside the courtyard and were meet abruptly by a woman telling us we were not to enter as we would trip people up. She snorted that there was a sign on the gate!!. We had come from the other direction and missed this sign as it was on the fence AFTER the gate. Her manner was very abrupt. My suggestion would be to address the public in a way that does not offend them. Accept that people can miss signs when entering as they may be looking for seating etc. We have never been stopped at a Cafe before with our bikes, however we would have fully understood if the lady explained in a more gentle manner rather than abrupt anger. We moved on to the next very friendly Cafe.

Having read the negative reviews, I felt the need to share my experience. My phone call to book a large group at short notice was welcomed. By the time we got there this number blew out however it was not an issue. Customer service was warm, welcoming and friendly. We shared a joke or two. Bowls of coffee are something Ive never seen before but they were amazing. Sometimes a mug doesnt cut it, especially on a Sunday morning. Food arrived quickly, and it was magnificent. I did not hear any complaints and the price point is about right for the quality you receive. The only thing I would suggest is that with large groups the name be taken with each order to save confusion at service, especially after wed all had a big night. Keep up the good work! Great food and dining. Friendly prompt service and food to table. Best coffee we've had while on the road for two weeks. Superb local business.
