Roulettes practice from here in preparation for the annual Avalon air show. This old RAAF BASE no longer houses the mighty planes that once represented our defence force some 50 years ago but instead is still an active air base that has quite a lot of aircraft landing and flying in the adjacent areas. One night a clear night a loud thunderous sound was coming from above. We could not visually see any aircraft but could hear the sound and as it turns out to be it was the defence forces black hawk helicopters coming in to land here at the RAAF BASE POINT COOK. The museum however is definitely worth a day out for the family to see the history of this base its wartime useage plans for the future and some great exhibits of old aircraft. It is a MUST DO

I used to love visiting the old cinema here as a child, unfortunately it was closed to the public after 9/11. Still hoping the cinema will re-open one day as it was great having one so close to home.
