        image The Hume & Hovell Cairn is a great piece of history, in the Murmungee Community. It was erected by Murmungee & Beechworth, in November 1924. I recommend seeing the large monument, a great place to sit & enjoy the nature, peace & quiet. It's located on the side of Buckland Gap Road, with large shady Gum Trees surrounding. The Cairn seems to be in good condition, I believe there was a small metal flag pole on the top, which is missing. There are logs that fell in such a way, that it's made convenient seating, & the Cairn is surrounded by long grass, so be careful in Spring & Summer (for Snakes etc.). It's one of the largest Hume & Hovell Cairns I've seen in the area.
