Spent a very enjoyable afternoon sampling the excellent wines here, the tasting ($15pp) includes 7 different wines and an expert commentary on how they were developed and the subtleties of each. The WINIFRED PINOT NOIR is to die for, a true pinot which will not disappoint. Be sure to book your tasting in advance . Cheese platters and wine by the glass or bottle are available too.

Do not miss this on your Mornington Peninsula visit. Bruce has an incredible knowledge for wine and literally all 7 wines on the $15 tasting were incredible! This winery is 10/10. Will be ordering bottles online and can't wait to come back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Arrived here on a sunny day with my family from overseas to do a tasting and buy some wine and as we had a big group and kids we were refused service, the person who spoke to us was very rude. Will not be going back here, do not reccommend.

In over twenty years of experiencing most wine regions across Australia (including the peninsula on several prior trips, all fantastic wonderful times!), what we experienced at Yal Yal was the very first negative experience over two decades, and one that I feel compelled to share and warn about to others. I was treating my parents to some wineries on the pennisula, and Yal Yal was stop three in the first half of the day. We arrived at approximately 11:15am. The place was empty - literally. Not a single other visitor, our vehicle was the only one in the carpark and the establishment had zero other customers inside it. As we were approaching the entrance a man came outside and, without even the slightest greeting or hello - asked my parents in an aggressive tone if we had a booking. It was very confrontational and abrupt - we were spoken to as if we were vagrants! When we informed him we didn't, he told us he "could fit two in, but not three" and waved us off, again, in what I can only describe as a condescending and aggressive smugness. It is perfectly fine for a business to turn away customers and to enforce a bookings-only rule, I don't have any issues with that - merely the conduct and manner in which this experience unfolded was horrible. The person's sheer lack of decorum was so abrupt and hostile that I will never be returning. To the person who treated us so rudely, if you read this, please know that you're perfectly entitled to enforce a bookings-only rule, but I do ask that you treat potential customers with even a slight bit of hospitality, a friendly "sorry, we are completely booked out" with a warm smile. Doing so, we would have left wanting to return at a later date. Instead, you are now a source of conversation over dinner parties for me, about the first time in twenty years being treated so rudely at a winery. I live in South Yarra and friends and I like to frequent wineries - I can assure you I will be telling everyone I know about the conduct I experienced from you.
