Worth the walk down. Gentle slope to a switch back the follow the creek behind the base of the cable car station. Beautifully restored hut takes you back to the olden days with the creek nearby. Kids who watched the silver brumby will relate well. About 6kms round trip but feels like 8. Watch for snakes. Walk back up is a bit heavier for those unfit.

After many years of visiting Mt Hotham over the snow seasons and riding the Blue ribbon chair which is 50m above the hut, I finally made time to visit the hut outside of winter. Although it not a true High Country cattlemens hut, it is still rich in history and has a great showcase of the movie the hut was built for. Its in a beautiful location by the creek and a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back up to Hotham Heights.
