I had high hopes for this Italian restaurant, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. While the service was commendable, the food was disappointingly bland, especially considering the prices. To make matters worse, we were seated next to a loud couple who engaged in an inappropriate conversation, making it difficult to enjoy our meal. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I would hesitate to return.

My son and I have been a regular lunch patron of Osterio 20 Hawthorrn for years. The food is always fabulous and should be for the price. However, recently, there has been a change of floor staff and many more party bookings in the private room. The noise and the many party patrons seated outside the room, ordering from the menu, has a complete detrimental affect on the ambiance and service for the restaurant patrons- service is sketchy at best and dismissive bc they are stretched to cater for both a party & restaurant patrons. Food coming out from the kitchen is still fabulous but many family patrons feel its OK for their children to use the restaurant like a playground bc its so noisy standing on booth chairs, yelling out, playing chases around the tables.our last 3 Sat lunches have been spoilt due to unruly children allowed to disrupt others trying to enjoy their meal. This Sat was my last.. 8yr olds birthday party in the private room with disco lights and the Bird Dance playing at full volume while the parents filled the restaurant, ordering off the menu, children running and screaming in and out of the room, while 3 yr old family booth patrons stood on the chairs, used the cutlery as swords then musical instruments.The matre de took away their cutlery but said to me what could he do? He could have moved them further inside the restaurant, to where the noise was so others didnt have to endure them hanging over the back of the chairs, in a pretend dying display after being slayed like a dragon! Either close the restaurant to patrons or give a discount when the party room is booked.

The booking system showed there were no available tables, a quick call to the restauramnt and the manager was able to re-arrange tables and cater for us. The food was great, the atmosphere was vibrant, busy however not overly loud and the service was awesome too. Well done!
