At Sovereign Hill, you can see a spectacular $160,000 gold pour, venture underground on a fully-guided gold mine tour or catch a horse-drawn coach and tour the town. Go shopping 1850s-style and visit hotels, schools and a theatre with goldfields entertainers. See steam-driven machinery in action and chat with our wheelwrights, candlemakers and confectioners as they ply their trades. On our streets and in our theatre, you will be entertained by costumed goldfields characters who are happy to pose for agreatphoto. I really enjoyed the time spend there to see what things were 160 years ago in Australia.

What an amazing experience taking you back in time to centuries ago. Kudos to the people who maintain and preserve our rich past. The staff are extremely helpful and always with a smile. Does get really cold here during winter so rugging up well is a must and pack a snack as the Cafe is a bit expensive especially if you have kids. We have been here couple of times also done the Sound and Lights performance and the Christmas in July too. The kids love going here however I wouldn't recommend the mines tour for little ones. The souvenir coins at the mint is exciting as you can get the coins with your name, DOB etc done as well. This place you will not regret. So give it a go, good luck

Awesome place, worth a visit. Mine tours were great. The staff get into character, feels like you are back in 1850's. Plenty to look at. Gold panning. Horse carriage rides. Get to view $170,000 worth of gold being melted and cast into a bar. Needless to say they won't let you hold it! Price is for 2 days. 1 day should be enough, unless it is busy and you don't get around. Good history and includes gold museum over the road. I didn't find that so interesting, but I'm not so much of a museum person. Despite a wet windy day, the staff were all helpful and still involved.
