Being a Ned Kelly nut I love visiting the site where Ned and the gang stood up to the police in June 1880. Looking at the quiet empty little block of land now its hard to believe such a tragedy happened here. 3 of the gang members lost their lives at this very spot. Several hostages also were injured, 3 of which died from their gun shot wounds. Gun shots from police rifles, not the gangs. Then the hotel was burnt to the ground after the hostages were released. 2 other buildings were built here but now it is listed as a heritage site and nothing can be built here again.

We had a fantastic day wandering around Glenrowan and learning about the Kelly gang history. This is the site where they held up the Inn and were surrounded by the local Police. Of course it was authority that Ned Kelly was most against so he let his captives drink and play games. These sites are well documented and an easy walk between. Across the road at the railway, the Kelly gang held up rail workers in an endeavour to pull up the rail tracks here. You need to visit all of the sites to learn more about the capture of Kelly here.

Some great exhibits on the Ned Kelly trail. Well signposted and plenty of information. Most of these points of interest are within a short walking distance and it's definitely something to do whilst in the area.
