I have been a patient of Dr Girgis for 3 years now and see him to treat my endometriosis. He was the first specialist I saw (out of many) to take my complaints of period pain seriously, and did scans that first visit to diagnose me with endo. A few months later I had my first laproscopy and he removed all the endometrial tissue and adhesions and moved all my organs back into their correct places, as well as coating them with a special film/liquid to make it harder for them to adhere to each other again- he is one of only a few surgeons in Melbourne who provide that preventative treatment method. I have just had my second laproscopy with him and my follow up appointment he answered all my questions about trying to fall pregnant with endo and potential struggles, and will continue to guide me through my conception journey. Highly recommend this surgeon for gyno issues!

I have struggled with fibroids for a long time and because I was diagnosed in my 20s, the specialist did not want to operate on me. Fast forward to my early 30s and my periods have become more heavy and my stomach like that of a pregnant woman. I have also had iron infusions due to severe anaemia. My GP referred me for a scan and my scan showed extremely large multiple fibroids. My GP then referred me to a gynaecologist who was pushing me towards hysterectomy. I went back to my GP and asked for more referrals and everyone of them were pushing for hysterectomy. One day I went to pay condolence visit to a friend whose husband had died during the pandemic and we were talking about life in general and I briefly talked about my fibroids. She then told me about Dr Sherif. This friends husband who dies was also a gynaecologist who spoke very highly of Dr Sherif before he died. So I went back to my GP and asked for a referral to see Dr Sherif. First day I saw Sherif was at his practice in Glen Waverley. He saw my scan results and asked me " what do you want?". I told him I wanted to have kids in the future and he immediately replied "then we are going to keep your uterus and remove your fibroids". I was surprised cos this is the first person who hasn't mentioned hysterectomy. My uterus was the size of a full term pregnancy. Dr Sherif then proceeded to explain the method he would use which would ensure there was minimal bleed. I was so happy after I left his clinic. My surgery was scheduled for a few weeks later and I remember being nervous on the day of the surgery but Dr Girgis came and saw me and re-assured me. The surgery went so well and while my scan showed had 7 large fibroids with the biggest one being 18cm, Dr Girgis ended up removing 26 in total. The biggest he discovered during surgery was 25cm not even 18cm as identified by scan. There was minimal bleed. Pain level controlled and Dr Girgis checked on me everyday until discharge. Everyone in the hospital ward who heard of how huge my fibroids were, were in awe that Dr Sherif was able to take them out and preserve my uterus. I highly recommend Dr Sherif Girgis. I am pleased with my procedure and I couldn't have had it anyway. Thank you to Dr Sherif and his team....and yes his team also checked on me after the surgery even though they didn't have to
