With all the money this department has been given during this pandemic..you would think that the old flats we live in built in 1963 clauscen st and miller st flats nth fitzroy.. would be repaired..the building is well and truely past use by date..and mind u it houses elderly tenants...some are very ill also...

Incompetent, judgemental, bad attitude when engaging in service delivery. The Department has poor policies and procedures in place. The standard of housing stock is poor. Construction and the repair of housing does not meet the minimum building standard requirements.

Public Housing must be the biggest grift profitting from people's powerlessness and misfortune, nestled under the umbrella of government agency administration meant to empower disenfranchised marginalised and vulnerable citizens. I've received a meagre pay increase in my disability pension; DHHS was lightening fast to reasses our rent which in effect sees my cash-in-hand reduced $6pw. Our pension increase was in the vicinity of $14 a fortnight increase meant to over cost of living - after DHHS has taken their reassesed rent our pension increase amounts to $2-per fortnight - that is, $1 per week. I wouldn't mind but we live in a building that is poorly maintained, badly serviced as far as cleaning of common areas and maintenance of elevators. Accessing a face-to-face appointment with a property manager is more difficult to arrange than an audience with the Dalai Lama. If anyone thinks persons in receipt of a pension accommodated in public housing are living with great concession then they are labouring under a gross misapprehension.
