Great place to photograph the only suburban train in Victoria!

Tiny provincial end of line nondescript train station with infrequent trains connecting from Frankston but offers commuters the choice of Western Port Ferry connection service to & fro either French or Phillip Island. Does have toilets & a small car park. Ferry hop on/off point is just a matter of crossing the narrow road & walking along the long pier. Station is along the small caravan park entry & Stony Point Boat ramp. Check the train timetable & plan your trip to dovetail your arrival to the ferry departure times. You really need an overnight or few days stay to sight-see either islands properly. If ferry connect is not your aim - this is a scenic & picturesque terminus to get off & watch the fisherfolk, pelicans & shorebirds that await for morsels at the cleaning tables, the seagrass shore that is teeming with marine life & just chill for a few hours. There's a small provision shop selling food, drinks & fishing stuff but this was not open on Fri before New Year.

Hello... this is ArrowB, the Melbourne Ambassador Stony Point is one of my favorite away city one day train- trips. Also it's ANOTHER tranfering point to Philip Island, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO FURTHER. Just catch train to Frankston and transfer the cutie V- line train directly at the same station and Stony Point is at the end of the destination. You can bring your foods in advance or replenish at Frankston nearest Woolie/ Coles at nearby shopping center when you plan to Stony Point where there is ONLY 1 mini milk bar. I like this real Australian train to the real authentic Australian local communicating vehicles with different atmosphere. At Stony Point, you can see some people doing fishing/ watering sports; some crabs and the sea and islands. Remember to bring some thick layers of clothes esp in autumn/ winter and the spring. You can book the ferry ticket on line or on the site to go to Philip Island at the pier. Be sure check the time schedual before planning your long trip. It would be better to have 2 days trip to the Island to enjoy the eco environment and hiking trip there. This trip fits for those who love/ enjoy serenity and of course the natures. Then you will enjoy the trip and fit to family have a nice family interacting quality.
