TLDR - dirty, poor service, definitely not 5 star I stayed this past Saturday night. I arrived to the valet parking but no one was around and it was not clear if I was in the correct place. Someone eventually arrived and seemed surprised that I wished for my car to be valet parked. The same person checked me in as there was a big queue at reception. My room (King Suite) was a good size and the bed was comfortable. There were multiple stains on the carpet, and the carpet seemed grimey. The bathroom was not clean - Someone else's dried body fluids (? blood) on the door frame and dust beside the vanity. The gowns smelled of the perfume of the previous guest. I asked housekeeping for a fresh one when they came for turn down service. A friend met me for dinner. We went to the rooftop bar which was full of young women hanging out by the toilets taking selfies... We were accosted by the young, security guard in an ill-fitting suit as we dared take our drinks down to Mayflower were we had a dinner reservation. Mayflower food and drinks we good but service lacking.... didn't check for drink orders, clear plates quickly, wrong desert delivered etc. Food good overall except for rotten/squishy grapes on cheese platter. Breakfast buffet was terrible - no tables cleared and re-set. I had to ask for my table to be cleared and set, had to chase a waitress to be able to place a coffee order, was not offered / told how to get the 'cooked to order ' omelette or eggs supposedly available from chef so didn't get any, buffet itself was pretty basic. Bacon and Hash browns cold, cut fruit not nice/ looked like the 'bad bits' had been cut out! When I checked out no one asked me about my stay ... possibly because they know they're not up to standard? I had to ask for a printed receipt - which I received. I was told I'd also get an electronic copy..... still waiting. Overall, absolutely not 5 star - poor service, seemingly inexperienced staff and not clean. Very, very disappointing end to my visit to SA - I had hoped to relax and feel comfortable not feel grossed out by dirty bathroom and dressing gowns. 'Stay elsewhere' is my recommendation.

Fantastic service in the city, the Mayfair is definitely the place to stay. I also love their rooftop bar (Hennessey), staff are always helpful, accommodating, and make a great martini.

Asked for 2 room next to each other. When we arrived the rooms were at opposite ends from each other. I complained the said I could have 2 rooms next to each other but for extra charge. Wouldnt have booked the rooms if I knew they werent next to each other. The rooms are decent quality but definitely nothing special. Not allowed to have visitors after 10pm. Wasnt anywheres to park to get our bags out the car. Had to carry the baggage 500 meters down the road. Funny enough iv stayed at gepps cross motel that very cheap but for the cost and rules and when I booked 2 rooms next to each other I got exactly that. Definitely wouldnt recommend staying there. My room was ok clean but would expect that for a room 350 approximately a night. I definitely expected more for my money. Nearby activities: Good being on the corner of hindley street. But some people might get intimidated by the drunk people hanging around the front, for this reason it could be a safety issue late at night.
