A chill wind blew through the city that night, bearing with it the feeling of ill omens. I sat upon the steps under the portico of the Edmund Write house. The hour was late, and few souls wandered the street that night. I was scrolling through cat memes on my phone, when a shadow fell over me. I looked up to see a disheveled looking old man looking down at me, flecks of spew still fresh upon his nicotine stained beard. He leaned in close, and asked in a husky voice, "What's wrong, you look down?" I recoiled involuntarily as the smell of his breath reached my nostrils. It was at this point that my bus arrived, and I was able to disengage from my unwanted encounter.
