DR Bowler

Dr Simon Bowler is the best respiratory Doctor in Brisbane. He has been my Doctor for 30 years and saved my life on numerous occasions. You would go a long way to find a Doctor that cares as much as he does for his patients.

After reading previous reviews I do not have an issue with Dr Bowler.

Where can I begin? When my husband was first diagnosed with Lung Cancer, we were refered to Dr Simon Bowler. My husband was eager to get a full prognosis but Dr Bowler encouraged us to be patient and wait for everything to take its rightful course. The rightful course being that we should wait for his "team" of specialialists to have their fortnightly scheduled meeting to discuss all their clients. He impatiently (and agressively) told us that my husband likely already had been living with cancer for 6 months and so 2 weeks more of waiting wasn't going to make any difference. He actually suggested my husband be more "Zen Like". Well, 2 weeks later we finally met with Dr Bowler and his team (the team being only one other person as it turned out) . We were informed that the cancer was so far advanced and agressive that we would need to start chemo immediately. Wwithout chemo he only had a couple of weeks to live. With chemo he would have maybe only months. So, as it turns out, that 2 weeks of extra waiting DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! My husband accessed chemo the next day but due to an infection, ended up in hospital and indeed DIED 2 weeks later. At that meeting, before we made ourselves comfortable on the chair, the doctor began speaking. I immediately pulled out my iphone to tape the session so that I didnt miss any information - there simply was no time to ask permission. When this devastating news was delivered to us, Dr Bowler said his good-byes - he seemed in a desperate hurry to get out of the room - and as he departed had the audacity to go mad at me for not asking permission to tape the session!!!!! F_____ YOU DR BOWLER! Soooooo.... If you are looking for prompt professional service delivered with appropriate levels of compassion, I would suggest Dr Bowler be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. I also was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer the previous year, and at every stage, the specialists I worked with rushed me into testing, operations, chemo - everything - WITHOUT DELAY. If my specialists couldn't get the care I needed straight away, then they stayed on the phone until I was assured to get it. My husbands prognosis was never going to be good but a couple more weeks would have aloowed us to get things done that needed to be done - more time is more time. In summary Dr Bowler had a complete lack of concern over urgency, and complete disregard for my husbands emotional well-being. Dr Bowlers desire to "WAIT" for his stupid group of specialists meetings to take place added to the delay in my husbands care. This form of consulting has become common place amang specialist now and it's not always to your benefit. The only reason I have given this man one star instead of NONE is because I couldn't post without adding a star. ZERO stars would be my choice for Dr Bowler.
