We engaged Brett Thomas (Pools of Noosa) to build our swimming pool and decking in July 2021 to have it ready for summer and I can honestly say that it was a terrible experience that stressed me out and kept me up at night. The project dragged on for 10 months (should of been 3 months) and he refused to tell us when works would be done or give us an updated completion date. He rarely answered our text messages, and when Brett finally did show up to our house, he consistently lied to us about when works would get done. Because of the delays, we missed having a pool in summer and couldn't have our son's pool themed birthday party. We observed that Brett has very little attention to detail or forward planning, and he seemed to have a 'near enough is good enough' attitude to our project. Brett made mistakes at every step of the way, including putting the pool in the wrong spot, mis-pouring the first concrete shell, ruining our driveway, and our pool is 15cm too short. When we confronted him about his mistakes and asked him to correct them and finish our pool, he terminated our contract and left us with a damaged driveway and a pool that is 15cm too short. We had to finish the pool ourselves and now have a QBCC claim against him. We also had to employ a contractor to reinstall the pool fencing as he used the wrong materials. It was truly an awful experience and we would never recommend him. We have spoken with many others who built with Brett, and they all have had a similar experience of significant delays, poor quality work, and poor communication. I note the positives reviews on this site are from his chippy (Dean Lerkenfeldt), Kylie Evans (who i suspect is Kylie that runs the business with Brett), and Brett Thomas himself! I would suggest that everyone does a google search for Brett Thomas and read the Courier Mail article about him walking away from his Cooloola Pools business with millions owing to customers/creditors and do a QBCC search to see all his business. We hired Brett Thomas/Pools of Noosa to build our pool and it has been one of the worst experiences. The pool build was contractually meant to take 3 months, but his jobs take much longer. Ours went on for 10 months and he would not provide us with a updated completion date. He was rarely on site and has poor attention to detail. We had to micro-manage him because he made so many mistakes at every step of the way (including putting our pool in the wrong spot). We eventually had to terminate our contract with him because our project was extremely delayed and he failed to proceed with the works with reasonable diligence. I wish we had of asked around before engaging them because we found out that he has a terrible reputation and is known for sub-par work. What we found as most annoying was that Brett constantly lied to us about when works would be done (we went weeks / months without any works being done). He would never answer our phone calls and his text responses were vague. We have spoken to at least five other families who have had a similar experience as we did and they all were frustrated by their experience with Brett Thomas/Pools of Noosa and were left unsatisfied with his work. One family is having trouble getting their pool certified because he hasn't done the works correctly. Also know that he had his QBCC license suspended and cancelled in 2015 under a different business name. Service: Inground pool installation
