If I could give minus stars I would. Jim Gray and his team were hired to remove and replace a stern thruster in my Riv and were unable to as he had purchased the incorrect thruster for the job. Once Jim was not able to remove the old one or install the new (incorrect) one, He left the replacement on board for someone else to remove and replace. We had another professional remove the old one and upon attempting to install the new one, realise the thruster was incorrect. I contacted Jim immediately and sent the item back to him, which has been delivered. I then naturally requested a refund of our $5000.00 which we paid in full prior to any work being carried out. Jim is now with holding $1000.00 as he says this is for lost labour.......to do what exactly....I'm not sure as I am the one who had to pay someone else to try and do the job he was hired to do. Jim and his team at Odyssey are in a class of their own. With a wealth of knowledge and experience they provide; exceptional service, creative solutions, value for money and on time. I know I can always depend on Jim and his team to solve my electrical and electronic issues. If you are interested read on for some of my experiences. I was frustrated by the poor performance of the original solar system fitted to my boat, Destiny, a Seawind 1160. What was equally frustrating was trying to find someone who was able to confidently assess the boats requirement and proposes a solution. At the time, there was a Lagoon 41 on the same marina arm I was located. I could not miss the stunning stainless steel work and solar panel installation which I knew had been added to the vessel. I asked the owners who had done the work. This is how I discovered Jim Grey and Odyssey Marine Electrical. A referral from another raving fan client who could not speak more highly about the Solar Panel installation Jim had organised for their Lagoon Catamaran. Jim was a breath of fresh air and from our first conversation I was confident that he not only knew what he was talking about but would be able to provide the best solution for my power issues. Jim organise everything including the stainless steel framing through another outstanding contractor Tony from Marine Stainless & Alloy Solutions. Jims installation was a total game changer for me as I no longer required connection to shore power. The 1000 watt system not only looks great but will also provide in excess of all the power I require to run two fridges, two freezers and all other electrical demands. I have not seen the house batteries below 75% even after several overcast days and 8 months without connection to shore power. While working on the solar installation I mentioned to Jim the deck lighting was very poor. He said he had a solution and he did, the foredeck on Destiny is like full day light on the darkest nights when required with a flick of a switch. He also noticed a number of other electrical issues which he brought to my attention and rectified. Jim has also came to my rescue on other occasions, when the electronic failed and I was on a tight schedule to leave port to sail north he was able to work his magic with what he could source to provide a solution for me to leave on time. I could not recommend Jim and Odyssey Marine Electrics more highly. Service: Installation
