If you want the best of the best , this is the surgeon you should be looking for. He was the surgeon who gave me a whole new lease of life through his giving me a hip replacement i direly needed. He cares and his skill set is second to none. You could not ask for a more professional talented orthopedic surgeon. I can't thank him enough.

Could not fault Dr Ramsay at all! The most helpful and down to earth surgeon. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of, both before and after my knee surgery. Would 100% recommend!!

I am a 62 year old female who had a hip replacement performed by Dr David Ramsay on 15 December 2020. I expected to stay in hospital around 3 days but ended up staying 10 days due to blood pressure problems and slow recovery of mobility, despite the fact that I have always maintained a high level of fitness. From the moment I stood up, it felt like one leg was longer than the other. Dr Ramsay did a visual check and said he could see no evidence of this. While in hospital I complained of numbness in my foot and toes but this was considered unimportant and something that would resolve. Prior to discharge from the hospital I asked the nurse about wound care and follow up appts but was told Dr Ramsay was responsible for providing that information. None was given so I wasn't sure if I had to have stiches removed or whether I had dissolvable stiches. I thought I'd maybe get a phone call at home, but after a couple of weeks I rang his surgery and was told I needed to see him 6 weeks post op so I made an appt. Four weeks after surgery, the dressing started to peel away. I rang his surgery and asked if I could remove the dressing. The woman I spoke to said she wasn't sure, but when I said it was peeling off, she told me to take it off and if any problems, see my GP. Recovery proceeded slowly even though I was diligent in doing all required exercises. I still struggled with the feeling of different leg lengths. At the 6 week appt, I told Dr Ramsay about the numbness and tingling in my leg and foot, and pain in my thigh but he said that it should resolve. He made a follow up appt in 12 months. By 3 months I could hardly walk, was in a lot of pain and taking prescription pain killers. I returned to Dr Ramsay. He ordered an MRI and suggested it might be a disc problem in my back, even though the spinal xrays he viewed did not indicate such a problem. The MRI did not show a disc problem. During this time I arranged for an xray to check my leg lengths. The operated leg was 7mm longer - not considered significant, but to this day it gives me problems. After the MRI, Dr Ramsay said he wasn't sure what the problem was and referred me back to the GP with suggestions that I see a spinal surgeon. I eventually saw a top spinal surgeon and a neurosurgeon. Both said there was evidence of nerve damage and that this was causing my pain and mobility problems, and both thought that this was caused by the hip replacement surgery. The spinal surgeon could not see any spinal cause for the pain. No treatment is available for this type of injury other than time. I was told it could take 12 months to 2 years before I would know if I would achieve full recovery.. It is now nearly 9 months post op. I still have numbness and tingling in my leg, but less pain. I have not been able to return to the activities I used to do, and I still need to take prescription pain killers when the pain gets too much. I swim 5 days a week and do the strengthening exercises given to me by my physio.
