We signed up for the initial $20,000 discovery package with Next Thursday for our startup business and were really happy with how the meetings went. They came up with some great creative marketing ideas. In the end, they said it would be more affordable for us to do a paid online advertising campaign instead of the other creative solutions they had brainstormed in our initial discovery. We signed up for $10,000 a month online advertising campaign mostly targeting social media (facebook). The advertising was outsourced by Next Thursday to a partner company, where we paid next Thursday a referral fee. We did not own any pixels or data so unfortunately all of the tagging and data we acquired over the month cant be used going forward since we left them. Ultimately maybe it would have worked long term? But it would have cost $10K a month to find out, and an affiliate referral fee charged by them. For a start up this doesn't make much sense. We left $30K+ lighter, with a few ads we probably wont use, and an understanding that what big marketing firms promise may not be what they will deliver. Next Thursday is really great at marketing themselves, but maybe not be that great marketing your company. In the end our decision to leave was for the best. We were able to execute some of our own marketing ideas acquiring customers at a fraction of the price (and when I mean fraction, close to 80% cheaper than Next Thursdays solution). We went with some really talented free lancers who get the job done for us in an affordable and creative way. We control the pixels and all the data so it can be used in the future, and spend 80% less on marketing every month, with 8X the results. But maybe your experience will be different!
