Royal Doulton Outlet Store

I am so terribly upset that the Doulton group of companies have decided to TAKE THIS SHOP AWAY FROM US, What a terrible shame and a huge loss. The staff there were always exceptionally kind, obliging and helpful. Yet another loss to people like me who choose NOT to purchase items on line. On line is ruining shopping for people like me, who like to see, feel, try on and get a proper look at what I am buying. I am prepared to pay more for what I purchase, just so I can see exactly what I wish to purchase. The Royal Doulton group of companies have lost me as their customer forever.

Appalling customer service - did someone say JobLeaver? We are fitting out a new build and I decided to drop into DFO Brisbane Airport to pick up some quality homeware items. After shopping up a storm, I sent my daughter back to the car with the bags and made a dash to the Royal Doulton Outlet. I entered the store at 4:50pm and was immediately approached by a female staff member. Her first words weren't, "May I help you?"; rather, she used words to the effect that they were closing at 5pm in the current environment, rather than their usual 6pm, and I needed to be mindful of this. As I quickly browsed, a couple of other people entered the store but didn't linger, no doubt also warned off. As I approached the rear of the store, I was again reminded they were closing soon. Looking at my watch, I pointed out it wasn't even 4:55pm. Just as I was deciding on some lovely Vera Wang glasses and a serving set, the only other sales assistant, an older man, told me it was time for the store to close. I looked at my watch and saw it had just gone 4:55pm. I pointed out I still had 5 minutes. He curtly advised me he needed to deal with the register and was closing up. I was taken aback and unimpressed, as it was now clear both assistants were more interested in closing their doors early than in closing a sale. Given their behaviour was bordering on harassment, I told them their attitude was unhelpful and they had lost my custom. At this point, the man rather condescendingly tried to tell me he was willing to help me make a decision; which was ironic given I had no need of his assistance to make a decision, I was already at the point of wanting to make a purchase. Unsurprisingly, I left without bothering to do so. (And I had to ask they lift the half-shuttered door so I could exit - though it still wasn't 5pm!). I strongly suggest this company consider using younger, enthusiastic employees who are keen to hold onto a job, rather than older, entitled staff who seem more focused on holding on to JobKeeper.
