Dr Sam Dowthwaite

Elle Noonan initially reviewed my throat with a possible cist but fortunately she was among a dedicated group meeting every week to discuss patients. It was discovered that I had throat cancer which required double surgery. Professor Jim Jackson was my oncologist while, Sam Dowthwaite did the internal robot surgery and Matt Cronin did the anterior lymph node removal. Sam remained as my consulting surgeon. I am fortunate to have a very switched on group of people here on the goldcoast to look after me. Sam has remained as my consulting surgeon post operation with 100% trust in anthing cancer related. Highly recommend. Dr Sam Dowthwaite treated my husband, whom had melanoma in his parotid gland, performing a very successful full parotidectomy and upper neck dissection, removing all tumours wrapped around nerves in face with all margins clear. His stitchwork is so neat- second to none, can barely notice and all his facial nerves work perfectly. Dr Dowthwaite is a highly skilled, calm, positive and professional oncologist /ENT surgeon, he was highly recommended to us from someone who has worked alongside him in surgery in the nursing field, along with other surgeons. Dr Dowthwaite is not only exceptional at his job, but also humble, kind and just a truly beautiful soul. He was patient with all my questions for my husband, understanding, gentle, yet assertive in his expertise area, which is what you want. I simply cannot understand how one can perform lifesaving operations and finish with a handshake. Dr Sam IS the dream team. I would not think twice to put any of my loved ones under him. I would highly recommend Dr. Dowthwaite to anyone in need of ENT treatment. I had 2 surgeries performed by him to treat my sleep apnea and both went really well. Recovery was painful but Dr. Sam adequately prepared me for this and set my expectations so I could manage my recovery well. He is also a lovely person and the first specialist I saw in my health battle that genuinely listened and empathised with me at the initial consult. I left the first appointment feeling so much better just knowing that he was on my team. Oh, and he is always on time which is refreshing!

Sam recently performed sinus surgery on me and I have nothing bad to say. From the initial consultation to after the operation he was nothing but professional and caring. I really appreciated all the information along the way regarding the procedure and recovery. If you have to have sinus surgery I wouldn't look past him.
