For the purpose of review REBUTTAL As the office manager of this practice, the review by Eric Reed is false. The patient has not been seen in Dr Scott Simpsons rooms. FYI: Out of pocket expenses for a colonoscopy range from $350-400 (as of Aug 2022) although some patients on a pension are no gapped & therefore pay nothing extra to Dr Simpson. These fees are discussed at the time of the appointment and the patient accepts and signs the fee/gap guideline. The aesthetics costs are charged separately by a different doctor. If the patient has a hospital excess for attending a private hospital this is not charged by the doctor it is charged by the hospital. If no private insurance Dr Simpson attends Hornsby Public Hospital where there is no costs.

I accompanied my mom to SANS Hospital for her overdue colonscopy. She was referred to Dr Scott Simpson, a gastroenterologist by our local GP. To sum it up, my mother/I had a pleasant experience under his consultation/care. He is friendly, attentive and elaborative on his response to any of our queries. From his responses we can tell how experienced and knowledgeable he is in his field and my mom felt very comfortable and taken care of during the procedure done at Hornsby hospital. She has requested I write a review here to highlight our experience.

Scott Simpson financially exploits people when they are sick and vulnerable. He tried to weasel me into a colonoscopy costing $1,600 out of pocket. I'm a 55 year old man with blood in my stool. Medicare pays 100% of the costs for someone like that with no waiting list. Instead, he made me wait a month to even see him, then another month for the procedure to be scheduled. And it wasn't until the night before the procedure that the hospital (he arranged) rang to tell me the whole thing would cost $1,600 out of pocket. I had already taken the preparation laxatives. They literally called me while I was sitting on the toilet. This is how he treats his patients when it comes to quoting what the real costs really are for the procedures he prescribes for you. He sets it all up in such a way that you only learn the real costs once you've already started the procedure, you've already taken time off work, you've already arranged for someone to pick you up. He and his mob wait until you are so far down the road, you don't want to back out. I had to back out because I simply didn't have the money. He caused a 2 month delay in my care. This guy is a total snake who is only interested in maximising the money he can make off your illness.
