These guys are great...organised and the top level surgeons...well, mine was...the physio knew Jerome did my shoulder, purely coz I was uncommonly more flexible and the unnoticeable scar...25 years later, and I needed advice from my own silliness....it was free, professional and excellent...thanks to all concerned.

My shoulder surgery was so perfect that tge physio after knew exactly that jerome Goldberg had done it. Why? He knew the perfect scar and mor important, that i would have full use of my shoulder. 22 years later, my shoulder is perfect.

I have visited Orthosports Randwick several times over the last 4 months to see Dr Gothelf about my left ankle reconstruction. Every time I visit (from the pre-surgery appointments to the post-surgery check ups) I always receive a friendly welcome from the lovely and helpful staff, and excellent treatment from Dr Gothelf himself. I'm sorry to see from another review that someone has had an undesirable experience, but I can assure that as well as my own positive experience, every time I'm there I see other contented looking patients that appear to have great relationships with their doctors.

I saw Dr John Best a few years ago about hip pain I was experiencing. He was well recommended to me and had a good reputation. My first impression was that he was caring doctor. Unfortunately, first impressions can be misleading. After examining me he concluded that I didnt have any underlying injuries, rather I was lacking in muscle strength. He recommended a physio clinic not even a specific physio and after trying his recommendations I saw no improvement. I searched online for more information, eventually self-diagnosing myself with a potential injury. I returned to Dr Best and enquired about this. He dismissed my idea, telling me I shouldnt believe what I read on the internet. However, I talked through my symptoms again and he accepted to do an MRI a large labrum tear was quickly discovered. His recommendation continued to be physical therapy and a consult with a surgeon. Dr Best warned me that surgeons are difficult people to communicate with and not to be surprised by their gruff demeanour. Ironically, I met the surgeon and it was a very easy and friendly conversation. I returned to Dr Best after further struggles with physiotherapy as he still had not recommended surgery. I sensed that our conversation began to bore him, as he literally said weve been over this in an impatient manner. And later, at a consult with my GP, I discovered Dr Best had left a note in my file suggesting that I was a difficult patient. Originally, I had planned to move overseas but had put my life on hold to sort out this problem. In the end, I decided to move on and start again with a new doctor after relocating. Dr Best actually warned me that the country I was moving to was not very good at hip health issues. Nonetheless, I did relocate, and I saw doctors and surgeons soon after. They were quite surprised that an additional scan had not been done which could have revealed additional information. After the scan, it was immediately obvious that I had a critical problem which required surgery no matter what and my new doctors were flabbergasted that this scan had not been done in Australia. I finally had the surgery and unfortunately, due to the time that was lost over the years of exploring the issue, the problem had even magnified further than they expected. However, it was still a success and I am now finally recovering slowly. Bizarrely, I learned that the country to which I had moved was, in fact, where these hip surgeries were invented. Quite a surprise given that John warned me this country was not very good at hip health. In reflection, John probably was once a good doctor, perhaps even great. His CV paints a story of many accomplishments and demonstrations of leadership and volunteering. However, I think his ability to listen and his attention to the details has faded over time and perhaps his focus has drifted too much from his patients to himself. On my last consultation with him, after our communication had soured, I mentioned offhandedly which company I worked at, as I explained they would help me with my relocation. Upon hearing where I worked a fairly prestigious brand his ears perked up and he immediately enquired about speaking opportunities at my company. Its true, my company does organise events with guest speakers in the health sector to talk and we promote those events publicly. Finally, I saw John quite clearly. His self-promoting, opportunistic personality appeared; eager to leverage his patient for some potential spotlight. And perhaps, now I understand the real reason he came well recommended and had a good reputation.
