Cockatoo Island

Great place to have sightseeing. Great place to have a relaxed weekend. Good photogenic place.

Had a marvellous day on this island. Its beautiful and a great place for a day out. It had nice little cafes and eateries which are quite nice too.

We arrived at Cockatoo Island at 6.35 pm as it was a last minute decision. Once past the operating hours, there was no one around in this island except for me and my friend. Nonetheless, we still explored the area since we were already there. It was a bit frightening to wander around in this island alone because we did not know what to expect here and whether it would be dangerous as we did not do any research before coming. When we saw some old buildings and sawmill, our imagination got the better of us. There were some birds in the nests on the log. When we walked near to the birds, they seemed very angry as they looked at us defensively and ferociously, chirping louder and louder. It looked as if they were asking us to back off because they had their babies with them. Suddenly, a flock of birds came a few metres away from me. They seemed to be fighting in the air, poking at each other in an aggressive manner rather than playing. A few of them charged towards me and I started to scream loudly and fled. My friend was frightened by the sight and we hurriedly left the place before the birds really attacked us. We were seen as unwelcomed intruders that occupied their territory. It was a strong sense of communication that they wanted us to get lost. Morale of the story: Do not go there after 6 pm when there is not a single soul. The number of birds are more than human and they bite.
