They asked me for $85 to provide a quote for a $1600 oled screen replacement. A poor recommendation by LG which I will be notifying to meanwhile all other repair centres easily provide a quote on part and/or labour free of charge. Very Australian. This kind of business makes me think twice about their workmanship. Paying for a simple over the phone quote and be charged $85 what is the world coming. Quotes are not a service. You definitely lost any work I would provide.

UPDATE after Tech1's reply: I apologise for not knowing about the $65/$85 difference. I did not need a full report. I specifically asked to be told whether it would be worth repairing or not - I provided the model, serial number, brand, purchase price, and photo in my initial enquiry. You then replied saying repairs can go up to $1,200 depending on the size and brand which still gave me absolutely no indication whatsoever if you've taken into account the size and brand I enquired about given you already had that information. Your employee's reply indicated she hadn't read my original email at all and was mostly just keen to get the $85 off me. When I spoke with your colleague over the phone she immediately asked for my credit card details before anything else and I was told no info would be given out unless I paid the $85. Once again, I didn't expect an exact quote, I just expected a 'not worth it' or 'worth it' or even a 'could come in around what you paid originally'. Just like some others I cannot believe they charge a fee to provide a ballpark figure for a repair and are so completely rude about it too. It seems the fee also went up from $65 a few months ago to the $85 that I was quoted just now. They replied to my initial enquiry and mentioned they'd call to charge me $85 for the quote. I asked via email what exactly the $85 would be for when I originally asked for a very rough ballpark estimate as the TV wasn't incredibly expensive. Got an automated text asking to call them to pay for the $85, called them and before I could even ask what the $85 would be for I was asked for my credit card details. ORIGINAL: Going through their replies to reviews here, they're saying that giving a ballpark figure that might be incorrect in the end would be against ACCC regulations as it's misleading. That's simply untrue. I am a small business owner myself and provide quotes daily, that I do not charge for unless the job is indeed an audit or report. All my clients know these are cost estimates only and the estimates clearly state that the accuracy of those quotes depends on many factors and are based on an hourly rate. Unless you tell your customer 'this is going to be the final price', a ballpark figure cannot be misleading. All I asked their team was whether they think the repair of a $790 TV would be worth it. A simple 'likely to be less expensive', 'probably around that mark', or 'likely to be a lot more expensive' would have been enough. My TV screen is very visibly damaged (they've seen multiple photos from all different angles), from what I understand there wouldn't have been a call-out fee for them to get the quote as they wouldn't have attended to inspect it - at least there was no mention of that at all, and I didn't ask them for a detailed report. Their very first reply said 'You could possibly be looking in excess of $1200 for the screen replacement depending on the size and brand' when I had already given them the model number (which includes the size), serial number and brand. Clearly they *can* give you ballparks, they just prefer to charge you $85/minute of work.
