I'm disabled and I've recently lost my job, my support services and my social life because I reported the sexual harrassment of a sexual predator who had woven his way into all areas of my life. I've never met Dr McMullin but I have drawn strength from the comments she made last month - and the consequences she too endured for speaking out about the truth. Being reminded that female surgical students (who are perceived as a lot less "vulnerable" than me) are certainly up against it too, has also helped me not over-identify with the situation that I have endured. Professor Michael Grigg's comments seem to have been conveniently airbrushed from the media (as they inadvertently helped evidence Dr McMullin's claims). Thank you Dr McMullin for being prepared to cop the personal consequences she has for daring to speak the truth about surgical training. As one would know, it is a truth that permeates our society. Dr McMullin's message has validated the experiences female surgical students - and all women alike.
