Those who laid down their lives for the sake of their country, for the sake of truth, for the sake of righteousness, for the sake of humanity during the two world wars as well as during the Vietnam war and the Korean war, have been rightly immortalised by the Manly War memorial

An imposing Field of Remembrance monument in granite erected after the First World War by the family of Alan David Mitchell, "the first soldier of Manly to fall". The dead of Manly in the war are listed on the monument's base, as well as a Boer War victim, solders of WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Prominent is the monolithic granite column that ends in a Corinthian column, atop which rests a banded globe engraved 'ANZAC'. Sadly the monument is overshadowed by the development of modern Manly, a poignant comment on a fading past.
