The worst emergency department Ive been to. Completely disorganised, and staff incredibly unhelpful. Waited for almost five hours and left without seeing a doctor as I was told the wait would potentially be several hours more.

Absolutely clueless. Can't listen. Don't understand. Can't read their own records.

So if youre looking to go into an emergency where theres no proper process being followed and one hand doesnt know what the other is doing, head straight here! My bro was admitted with a bad chest congestion, they took him to the Covid quarantine (fair enough) , his tests came out negative and had a confirmed Covid positive person with him in the tent/canopy. When I questioned that I was told its all ok, you have the same chances of getting Covid at a supermarket! So its ok to expose him to a known Covid case!!! Then transferred to another area in a quarantine zone and when asked for an update on his situation, the Triage nurse told me I dont have any update, can you communicate with him? Ask him whats going on I have the highest respect for this profession but this hospital is not winning them any medals !

I was driven from Kiama to St Vincents Hospital Emergency in Darlinghurst. The gentleman and the your blond woman at reception were lovely. Unfortunately thats were it ended. I got in relatively quickly to see The Triage nurse maybe around 11am. She was so rude and asked why I had not gone to Shellharbour or St. George. The fact is I went to Shellharbour a few weeks before and was given an incorrect diagnosis. My GP is in Darlinghurst and I had spoken 8 times in 2 weeks. I found out a week prior that I had MRSA(staff) had gone through 1 round of antibiotics and she started me on a 10 days worth on 2 days prior but I was not feeling better and where I had spots on my skin the tissue and muscle pain I had was a 9 or 10 out of 10. Her response was you look ok to me. Ive been advocating for myself for over a month now and thought maybe I needed antibiotics by IV, or needed to see a infectious disease specialist or maybe needed a PET scan. I was one of 3 people in the emergency when I walked in after 2 hours and 45 minutes at least 10 to 12 people came in and were seen before me. I spoke to another triage nurse only to find out the initial nurse had put me as a low priority patient. Ive been put on Endone due to the muscular and tissue pain I experienced and recently had to use a walking stick as edema was in my foot bone marrow so of course I think there is something more sinister and I need answers. After being told that there were at least 3 people ahead of me and they could not guarantee a time I left. In frustration limped over to the infectious disease specialist who made an appointment for me immediately. So thank you to the team at infectious disease and the triage nurse in question needs to listen to the patient, not talk over them and how dare she put me as low priority when she saw the medication I was on. Shame on you!
