I went to Dr Ferch with acute sciatic pain that had lasted 4 weeks. I was unable to lie flat and was only managing about 4 hrs disturbed sleep a night. I was only able to walk 50m and even then only stooped over. Dr Ferch removed a substantial amount of disc that had escaped and was squishing (technical term) my L4 nerve in my spine. It's been a ride, but 6 weeks later I have very little pain, am walking well and sleeping great. And it continues to improve. Very happy :)

I was diagnosed with a herniated L4 disc through an MRI due to a workplace injury. It took nearly 7 weeks to finally get a referral to see Dr Fertch and due to persistent down my left leg Dr recommended surgery over a cortisone injection. The procedure was explained well and after an IME appointment to confirm the outcome I was booked in for surgery shortly after I'm now 8 weeks post surgery and the instant relief was amazing. I was up walking just hours after surgery and within weeks after the irratation from itchiness at the incision site settled I felt so much better. Jan and all the ladies that were at the reception desk were great, and Dr Fertch is a great surgeon and Dr. I'm hoping I don't have to go back for more surgery, however if I do, I'll be straight back to Dr Fertch.

I was referred to Dr FERCH 4 years ago he recommended surgery, he explained everything well so I could understand it. I was knocked back by the IME my injury came back worse as Dr FERCH told me. I returned to Dr FERCH who again recommend surgery. I then saw a new IME who agreed with DR FERCH and stated I should've been operated on with the initial issue. From the time I got the approval to surgery was a short turn around. I cannot thank them both enough. I have seen some bad reviews on here about Dr FERCH, those people need to remember the delicate situations, pressure and amount of patients they see, sometimes they don't have the time to sit down for a long time just like GPs. Just like most of the health system they are understaffed.
