Subscribed to the movement. My daughter and I had a deep conversation about Patagonias mission & vision and their was no alternative as to where she wanted to spend the money she had saved up over the last few months

Usually I value Patagonia for their quality, service and customer care. But yesterday (2/2/22) I went to Patagonia Byron Bay to return my Hydroflow board shorts. They are the most expensive board shorts I ever owned. 140$. One of the seams came undone. Is asked for a return, but the person behind the counter had its first day at the store and didnt know what to do. So I waited for the manager, who was on a call. 35 min!!! Then she came out and told me she will fix them and send them away. It would take 2 weeks minimum! So I said that this is very inconvenient as these are my only surf shorts. She started talking to me like Im a little child. Quote: we can fix them, and we even do it for free! How amazing is that? Can you believe it? Quote end. I told her Id like a solution today. Then she offered to hand stitch them, tho she doesnt know how to do it. And they are seamless shorts to prevent any rash. Then the other employee told me how awesome they are fixing things. I told them that Im not happy. Then she told me that I should be happy that they do anything because the shorts are already 2 years old. (Purchase date was March 2020), so theyre only 1 year and 4 months old, half of it winter with no wear. And I told her that they have ironclad guarantee. But she again spoke to me like Im a 12 year old kid, explaining that they dont do returns to save the planet. And that I should be responsible because otherwise all the shorts would end up in the trash?! I have never felt as badly serviced, or talked to in a store before. She even asked me why I dont have multiple shorts to surf, so it wouldnt be a problem? Excuse me? Theyre 140$ I replied. And I only have one pair because I want to save the planet and not purchase multiple items at 140$ a piece, to do the same job. For the premium price paid at Patagonia I expect better service. And this always used to be the case. So I dont know what happened. But Ill most likely look for different brands to spend my money on in the future.
