I had a Birmingham Hip Replacement by Professor Kohan & Dr Kerr as a 46 year old in July 2010 as I couldn't walk any distance at all & I was in constant pain even on medication. I am a Strength coach and an ex-Olympian who works with athletes in gyms and needed to be mobile and able to demonstrate exercises. The procedure was great I met both surgeon & anesthetist prior to the hospital visit which actually blew me away & they were great! I actually had an unusual femoral neck twist/curve that Professor Kohan factored in on the fly when positioning the implant during surgery with, I would say, great success. I was out of the hospital around 18 hours after admission walking on crutches with hardly any pain in the ensuing weeks (they amazingly had it sorted) and was back at work in 6 weeks. It allowed me to train normally (albeit lighter to start with) after 6 months and the joint is still getting better as I challenge myself to do more movements on it even now after 12 years. It allowed me to get back into masters athletics and I won my age group in Discus at the World Championships in 2016. I still train hard at 59 and can single leg press and single leg hip thrust with 200 kg on my reconstructed side. I need the other one done now (yes it couldn't keep up with the implant or my lunacy) and I am so glad the dynamic duo haven't retired yet!

I cant say enough about Prof Kohan. Its three months since my fairly complicated hip surgery. Im back at work driving a truck around Sydney doing pick-ups and delivery. Very happy with the operation, the team and Doctor Kerr. I would like to wish him well in retirement, he will be greatly missed.

Had a Full Hip Replacement in May, 2021. From my first appointment with Professor Kohan I was impressed by his bedside manner. He fully explained my problem and the options open to me. He was able to schedule my surgery within two weeks. He fully explained what would happen during surgery and all post operative activities that I would have to undertake and the level of pain and discomfort I would suffer.. On the day of surgery I was again briefed by Dr. Kohan, and his team. Within 4 hours of the operation I was walking with crutches. I was discharged the following morning and followed the instruction sheet provided by Professor Kohan and returned to normal activities after 6 weeks. My level of discomfort was minimal and was easily controlled by panadol. I live on a small rural holding and have been doing my usual pre-operation activities 6 weeks after my surgery. This includes lifting hay bales, fencing, digging post holes, lifting bags of feed, walking our new pup 3 times a day, and going to pilates. The only regret I have is that I did not have the hip replacement earlier. Professor Kohan's description of pain, discomfort levels and recovery time was spot on. His sense of humour makes a serious situation so much easier to cope with. Outstanding surgeon.

I met with professor Kohen today, and his vast experience and history in his field would be enough to send anyone to his door, but what I came away with was what a total gentleman full of experience and a warmth and integrity that lets you know you had found the best
