In April 2021, I was taken to emergency at Westmead Hospital where I was lucky enough to fall under Professor van der Poortens care. Since this time where I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease, I have consistently seen Professor van der Poorten at Lakeview Private for regular check-ups, reviews of medications, and hospital procedures. Any issues I encounter with my health have always been clearly explained to me, and I truly value Professor van der Poortens communication and care when it comes to management of my Crohns Disease. He always has my best interests at heart for effective treatment, and goes above and beyond to ensure my wellbeing. I cannot recommend him enough!

Absolute miracle surgeon! Professor David has helped me with gastro issues. Highly highly recommend He was straight to the point, worked out the issues and didn't make me wait to fix them. Very professional and empathetic. Thank you Professor David

Poor medical management and skills which put me in the emergency room and led to a lengthy hospital stay, a non-functioning pancreas, random bouts of pancreatitis, several follow-up surgeries, and permanent scarring. Years later Im still suffering the consequences of his poor judgement. Not even an apology from him at any point. I outlined my concerns and he legitimately sent me a text advising me to contact his medical indemnity insurance if I had any complaints. Do not recommend.

Dr Van der Poorten is like no other. He is a down to earth, knowledgeable and caring specialist. He sees the whole patient and not just the issue they see him for. I have been treated with the upmost respect and care that I havent received elsewhere. I definitely know I am in the best of care.
