I recently had a fantastic shopping experience at Coles Bankstown, so I'm happy to give them a 5-star rating. Coles Bankstown NSW Saturday 20-05-2023, morning, opening time 7am. The car park located near Coles upper level, is all chained off and closed, this wasn't an isolated incident, it's always like this for the first few hours of opening time. Only self service was available, this Coled is a major size store located in a busy big shopping centre. No plastic shopping bags available, I get this. When asked about how and where I can purchase the paper shopping bag, I was told we don't have any. A staff member located at the front desk service cigarettes counter said, only the $2.50 plus shopping bags are available. Let me speak to your manager please, after a few minutes the manager, Assistant store manager "Craig" showed up. I explained the situation about how there was no paper bags available, he was like, " that's not my problem, what do you want me to do about it" he had a very bad attitude and was very rude. Then he pointed to a large cardboard box, the size of a typical Apple box and said you can take that. I said that's not practical when you need to walk a few km carrying a box around. I can see I wasn't getting anywhere with Craig, he needs to go back to customer resolution and conflict training. I told Craig I was going to escalate this. You can't force customers to only choose from the $2.50 per bags if you have a full load trolley of goods. Coles have known about the shopping bag situation for years now, they need to get their act together with supply chain, logistics and especially their customer service. If I could give a 0 star I would have.
