From a PLT student; to prospective clients and potential candidates First, to the clients considering El Baba Lawyers - Mona cares about her clients and has a passion for law. With these attributes in a lawyer, more than half of your problems are resolved. As a PLT here, I can attest to the numerous occasions in which clients were relieved to have Mona as their lawyer, after having gone through a long journey of disappointments. She runs a successful practice in family law and criminal law and has over a decade of experience. To potential candidates looking to work here: I worked at El Baba Lawyers as a PLT student to complete my requirements for admission to the NSW Supreme Court. The experience was fantastic. I was tasked with drafting affidavits and initiating applications, filing divorce applications, drafting letters and emails, conducting legal research, and other paralegal duties. As PLTs, we generally expect to be glorified copy machines, human highlighters and coffee purchasers but that was not my experience here. Both Mona and Ian were excellent mentors and did not seek to, as other law firms might, benefit from free labour. They are genuinely looking for enthusiastic and competent graduates to hire as the firm is fast-paced and busy. After they confirmed that I was capable of learning, they allowed me to listen in on judgments, observe court and give them my thoughts on certain legal matters. On one occasion, Mona was very generous in providing feedback on the practical difficulties and opportunities in the preparation of a defence in a criminal trial. Mona stressed that while university prepares a law student to come up with 'the theory of the case', it was ultimately up to the law firm to train law clerks in the tactics of courtroom advocacy - where the true battle is fought. Her criticisms to my work was fair, and constructive and they carried the intent of building an advocate out of a green fresh-out-of-school lawyer wannabe. Ian, who is Mona's second-in-command is a testament to Mona's dedication towards sincere aspirants to the legal profession. Do not hesitate to apply here for a job. Thank you Mona and Ian. I do sincerely hope to have the pleasure of working with you again.
