Lube Mobile ACT

Advertised a "repair call out" for $89.80, saying that "90% of repairs" are done there. After the 15minutes, I was then presented with a quote for an additional $255 to do an engine health check - despite having only replaced the engine a couple years ago. I asked for the bare minimum to fix the car/getting it back on the road, as being an old car there are some things that are minor issues which weren't the concern. At the end of this $350, I was then told that there was no way that it was getting fixed today, and presented with a quote for $4k worth of repairs. Four thousand! I had asked if it was likely that the additional diagnostic time would lead to my car being fixed shortly. I really don't believe that you need $350 worth of time to tell whether the car is fixable/worth fixing or not. If I'd just been told - look, probably going to cost a lot to fix (even over a grand) I would've said no thanks. When I went to another mechanic, they then said that the bare minimum to get it working at least for a bit (which is what I asked for) was the spark plugs. This was changed for around the price of the "engine diagnostic". Of course they mentioned mild other leaks or that timing belt was close to change date etc, but being upfront with me is what I asked for and wanted - leading to further business. I definitely think being a young female who doesn't know a lot about cars played into this. Two stars only because I understand that there is convenience in a service like this - but if you're considering I highly recommend to just get NRMA roadside assistance. Some of their cover levels at least include insurance claims if they can't fix the issue, and free towing. If, like me, you thought that because they do "itemised fixed cost invoicing" or whatever, that it help guarantee a fairer cost, you're wrong. They just add on every little thing that they can to bring it up.

Chris serviced our Fiat today and was absolutely brilliant. He took the time to check out our issue, went on a test drive with me and did an overall great job. First time Ive used Lube Mobile and Ill use them again and again from now!
