I have a history of leg pain resulting from 80 years of wear and tear on my spine. Dr Pik did a laminectomy which provided a period of great relief. However, with further wear and tear, disabling leg pain returned and more radical spinal fusion became necessary. Before both procedures Dr Pik gave me full descriptions of the procedures including the risks and the benefits. My recovery was straight forward, I remain pain free, and I can now get on with an active life. There was good rapport with Dr Pik and I felt cared for as a person, rather than just someone who needed a technically complex operation. The office staff also, have always very friendly and helpful. All of this eased what otherwise could be an anxious and difficult time.

I was deeply impressed with Dr Justin Pik, his professional skills and judgment which exactly described my pain and problems, but also his kindness, patience with my questions and empathy. I felt that I got the very best care possible. His staff were also extremely kind and helpful to me. A lovely surprise was his spacious and well set up waiting room with quiet soothing music and ample space to social distance and avoid catching Covid! I couldnt have got better care, support and evidence based guidance for my pain. Thank you so much.

Receptionist does not understand simple words. I had referral for Dr Justin and as he is not looking Workcover patients, I had asked for Dr Michael. As she said the both doctor are in same clinic, it is ok to have referral with anyone. She was giving appointment after 60 days. Are you serious ?

It has been two weeks and 1 day since my lumbar laminectomy to address my sciatica (in my right leg). Before surgery, I was in constant pain without any relief whatsoever, not even when lying flat. All I can say is that it was all worth it. The doctor gave me the success rate figures and advised me of all possible scenarios, positive and negative. (I must admit initially, I was worried) But I made my mind up as sciatica affected my quality of life in all aspects. This is/was one of the best decisions I have made, as I was walking the same day of the operation without sciatica pain. I am still walking without sciatica pain and improving daily. Dr Ow-yang is obviously a talented and caring surgeon whom you can trust. Honestly, his practice staff / team members are the same. A really positive experience. And, in this day and age is rare. Thank you, Dr Ow-Yang and staff. regards David Byak

I was transferred from Queanbeyan Hospital to National Capital with acute back pain and sciatic down my left leg. I went undiagnosed for nearly 8 weeks but Dr Ow-Yang immediately identified the issue, L4/5 vertebrae rupture which was pressing on the nerve (extremely painful) and promptly organised emergency surgery. His office quickly arranged the appropriate approvals and MRI scan, and the surgery was conducted the following day. I was nervous having back surgery, yet Dr Ow-Yang and his surgical team were friendly, professional and kept me calm. I awoke in recovery a few hours later with no pain and feeling had returned to my left leg which was a great relief. Dr Ow-Yang visited me first thing the next morning and explained in detail the damage that was fixed and follow up steps for recovery. I highly recommend Dr Ow-Yang and his team for neurosurgical issues and support, especially for back injuries.
