VisAustralia is a migration agency based on Canberra that assists skilled professionals and technical workers migrate to Australia. We also assist with international students, family visa applications, and work with businesses sponsoring employees. Sam Gupta and the team from Synapse built VisAustralia a custom-made application in 2010. The application allowed potential skilled migrants to find out whether they were eligible to migrate to Australia through the Skilled visa program. The application calculated points on the visa points test and a range of other factors in producing results that were legally accurate. The system was very robust, and we continued to use it with minor modifications for 10 years. The initial design of the system gave us access to a Content Management System that allowed us to make changes to occupations and other factors as the law and policy evolved over the course of the decade. Other changes were made in the back end. Migration is a moving feast of continual change to law and policy and the application served our needs in this challenging and changing environment very well. We would like to thank Synapse for their work and their originality in coming up with creative solutions that met our business needs.
